World Consumer Rights Day
Imagine a world with no customers. From crops to processed food, from mere nails to finely tuned manufacturing machines, etc, everything would be sitting in the warehouse, rotting and rusting. The concept of consumerism is an old one. Since the dawn of time, sellers have fulfilled the buyers’ needs in exchange for something they require. From the barter system to the currency pattern, the global market, the world economy are only a success because of the existence of customers. While this is a financial relationship, there have been many instances where the customer has been left unsatisfied or cheated. Thus, the birth of the World’s Consumer Rights Day. Inspired by President John F Kennedy, who sent a special message to the US Congress on 15th March 1962, in which he formally addressed the issue of consumer rights. From being the 1st world leader to do so to everyone following this, the consumer movement first marked that date in 1983, and now uses the day every year to mobilize action on important issues and campaigns.

In the world of business, the Customer is the god. He/she is always right. Many businesses used to think that a customer journey ends after the sale, but that is where the journey begins. From the ‘right to be sold the right product’ to ‘being satisfied’ with the said product and ‘receiving a decent after-sales service’, all this is a part of any customer’s experience. There have been cases where businesses have lost many customers due to a lack of/incompetent after-sales services. There are actual laws mentioned in the constitution of our country on consumerism, a dedicated judicial authority the consumer court is assigned to look into businesses in case the customer faces any issue with the product or the after-sale services.
Every year, the World Consumer Rights Day adopts a theme to highlight. This year's theme is " A just transition to sustainable lifestyles." The past decades have been the warmest on record. Extreme temperatures have taken over, resulting in many environmental imbalances. To remain the environmentally friendly boundaries, our lifestyle needs to be improved. Businesses need to provide sustainable options to choose from in every field. This transition will not only benefit the customer or the environment but also businesses for a smooth shift to sustainable offerings.
Speaking of sustainable choices, we at Obeeetee Carpets have been doing our part ever since our establishment. Being in the industry for over a century has given us an idea about the rapidly changing customer choices and also the environmental effects of our offerings. Thus, to ensure no harm to nature, we use naturally occurring materials to craft our carpets. Each carpet is made by the hands of experienced weavers, cutting the carbon emission from manufacturing machines. We have solar panels installed for our energy needs. To heat up the water in our dying unit, we use rice husk instead of coal, further reducing the carbon footprint. The wastewater is recycled and disbursed to the neighboring farms for cultivation.
Along with natural fibers like wool, jute, cotton, and silk, we use polyester yarns in our carpets as well. Though this is manmade, this PET yarn is made by recycling waste plastic bottles.
While we offer sustainable products, we ensure to offer a smooth customer journey. From carpet selection to assisting the customer in choosing the right materials and designs for his/her home, delivering 100% authentic products, and taking regular follow-ups after the sale, our sales team is thoroughly trained to give the customer an unforgettable experience.
